It is now almost the end of October! Fall is in progress; it’s finally cooling down and the leaves are beginning to turn. By the time I write next month’s blog for November, Halloween will have come and gone, Thanksgiving will have come and gone, and a hotly contested election will have come and gone.
That is a LOT of anticipation….and we won’t know how it will all turn out until my next blog.
I suppose I can predict what will happen on Halloween: some folks will spend a LOT of money on cheesy Halloween decorations – and kids will eat a lot of candy. Those things just happen naturally these days without a lot of thought.
I suppose I can also predict what will happen this Thanksgiving: people will eat.
But…. I cannot possibly predict or imagine what the election will bring! Just be sure you VOTE!
No matter what happens, be safe, be happy and we will check in with you at the end of November.

Happy 45th anniversary!!!!
Matthews VA. I hope to make that one. Have to leave the 19th-22nd for NE though (Nebraska not New England) for the 95th.
Glad to know you are taking the month off! Well deserved rest and recovery.
Still hoping Wayne will appear on the schedule next year.
Still trying!!!!
Thank you Debbie! We appreciate all you do…if we don’t get to see you in Matthews have a wonderful Christmas and safe travels!
I’m worried about Jim standing so close to the Turkey!
Hi Carol! Are you worried for Jim or for the turkey? Haha! She is a gentle pet turkey so they are both safe! I think she was trying to figure out how to grab Jim’s glasses!
Anne – I hope you and Jim have a nice Thanksgiving.
Meanwhile, we’ll all try and survive Halloween pranks and all; maybe if everyone just focused on the “ghoul” of their dreams…
Thank you Marty! Wishing you and Diane a Happy Thanksgiving!
This was such a truthful monthly or however timely the Vlog is. And here’s to hoping all these things come true and Christmas brings much joy and peace and health and John Denver songs to everyone. Oh yes and nice weather so tired of being sweltery hot in Florida.
Thank you Suzanne! We wish you a wonderful and cool Christmas!
Hi Anne,
I still have fond memories of your visit here in Rapid City. We hope all is well with You and Jim and that your garden was bountiful this year.
I keep watching your tour dates hoping I will see you nearby. You know I will be there if I do.
Don
Hi Don! We will try to get close, maybe some day! No garden this year, just maintaining the onions and the asparagus. Lots of work and traveling, it’s a good thing!
It was so great to finally here the entire group in concert at Tomball! Your harmonies are so beautiful. DHS 75 rocks!!
Hi Charlotte! Glad to see you in Tomball! Gators Rule!!!
Hi Anne,
Just wondering if you ever have an opportunity to play in Riverside, CA? That’s where I live but have no car. Alone, and no one to drive me. If in Riverside itself, I could get the senior bus (but they ONLY stay within Riverside). Or, I also use the regular Riverside Transit buses sometimes.
I know there is the Fox Theater in dtwn Riverside that have various concerts throughout the year, but don’t know if that would be an option for you to get booked there? Also, the Riverside Folk Music Society has small folk music events but don’t know about their booking actual concerts like what you and Jim perform at. Wish I could see you guys again!!
Hi Linda, The people at Fox Theater have not contacted us, but we would be more than happy to consider doing our show there. I will contact them and see what they say, it’s their decision though, so wish me luck! Thanks for writing!
Hi Anne,
We were happy to be see you in the Villages in October 2024….the concert was wonderful and I just wanted to say thank you for posing with us for a couple of photos after the show.
We had a pet Tom turkey when we had a farm in Missouri back in the 1970-1980’s and he thought he was a chicken….he ran with the chickens…that was vefore “free range chickens” were popular! We thought of him as part of the family and we couldn’t kill him either. We shopped at Gerbes Food and got our Thanksgiving turkey….Tom was a “free agent” ….he wasn’t the smartest turkey in the shed, he lived with the chickens..We enjoyed his antics until he was killed by wild animals.
Enjoy your time with family, shopping, putting up lights, etc. This is a special time of the year no matter when you celebrate it.

Hi Carol! Send me a copy of the picture PLEASE! Sorry to hear about poor Tom’s demise, but he was lucky to be loved and cared for by your family! Have a wonderful Holiday season, clear through to New Year’s Day!!!!
